Course Information
This comprehensive Course is Health and Safety Executive approved and complies with the Health and Safety First aid at work Regulations 1981
The aim of this course is to train candidates to manage an accident scene in the workplace, effectively communicate and delegate until the Emergency services arrive. The course will teach the skills needed to deal with a casualty who is unconscious, not breathing, injured (as a result of an accident at work) and/or suffering from a medical condition. The course also includes what to do after an accident or incident at work, reporting procedures, disposal of clinical waste and ensuring that your first aid kit complies with the standards set by the HSE.
Candidates will be trained in the following key areas (not exhaustive list):-
- The Role and Responsibility of a First Aider
- Assessing an Incident
- Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is Breathing Normally
- Opening a Casualty’s Airway
- Recovery Position
- Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is Not Breathing Normally
- Adult CPR
- Recognise and Assist a Casualty who is Choking
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Recognition and Treatment of Shock
- Managing a Casualty with a Minor Injury
- Management of Spinal Injury
- Management of Injuries to Bones, Muscles and Joints
- Management of Chest Injuries, Burns, Scalds, Eye Injuries
- Management of Anaphylactic Shock
- Dealing with Sudden Poisoning
- Managing a Casualty for a range of Major Illnesses
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Asthma
- Diabetes
Resources: All candidates will be provided with a first aid pack (including wound dressing, bandage and vent aid for CPR) and a full colour First aid manual.
Certification: On successful completion of this training course, candidates will be awarded a certificate in First aid at work which is valid for 3 years.
Eligibility: Any individual who has an interest in a comprehensive first aid at work course.
