Refresher - 2 Day First Aid at Work Course

This 2 day Training Course is Health and Safety Executive Approved and complies with the Health and Safety (First aid at work Regulations) 1981.

The aim of this Course is to refresh the knowledge of candidates who are in receipt of an existing 3 day FAW or 2 day Refresher certificate awarded by an accredited training organisation.

This Course will update existing skills and inform candidates of new legislation and change to technique which has been introduced by the British and European Resuscitation Councils. Candidates will also receive instruction in the practical elements of first aid at work and will be informed of change to technique and protocol within this area of the syllabus.

Candidates will be trained in the following key areas (not exhaustive list):-

  • Aims and Objectives of First aid in the workplace
  • Statutory Legislation and requirements of the first aider
  • Communication and Management of an accident scene
  • Care of the unconscious casualty including Recovery Position
  • CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation)
  • AED Awareness (Automated External Defibrillation)
  • Wounds and Bleeding including control of infection
  • Fractures
  • Shock
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Eye Injuries
  • Miscellaneous conditions
  • Aftermath of incident
  • Transportation of casualty

 Resources:  All candidates will be provided with a first aid pack (including wound dressing, bandage and vent aid for CPR) and a full colour First aid manual.

 Certification: On successful completion of this training course, candidates will be awarded a certificate in First aid at work which is valid for 3 years.

 Eligibility:  Any candidate who is in receipt of a First aid at work training certificate which is valid and unexpired on the first session of the training course.
